Spritz Cookies

Share this:

This is one of my favorite holiday cookie recipes. I’ve been making it for years. You’ll need a cookie press.

1 cup butter

¾ cup sugar

1 egg

2 ¼ cups sifted flour

½ tsp. baking powder

dash of salt

½ tsp. almond extract

1 package dark chocolate (melted)

sprinkles

Cream butter and add egg. Beat on high for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Add sifted dry ingredients and extract. Fill cookie press with the dough and form cookies on ungreased cookie sheet. Put parchment paper on cookie sheet. Some people pipe the spritz cookies instead of using a cookie press. I like using the cookie press better. Bake 10 minutes in 400 degree oven. Makes about 5 dozen cookies. After cookies are cooled dip into the melted dark chocolate mixture and cover with sprinkles. Cool on cookies cooling racks or on wax paper.
