shopping gallatin – 2011
From fabulous vintage and shabby chic to the latest in outdoor furnishings and patio plants, Gallatin has something for every taste.
Take Vietnam Veterans Parkway off I-65 North and exit south on Big Station Camp Blvd. to US 31E (Gallatin Road) and turn left.
About 4.5 miles east, you’ll find The Red Tulip on the right, just across from Volunteer Community College. Tucked into a small shopping center, this shop features small home accessories as well as decor and gift items. Inspiration—you’ll find it here!
Continue several miles north as Gallatin Road become Main St. and turn toward the heart of Gallatin as West Main veers right away from Broadway which proceeds straight. Park before the light at Water Ave. and browse the treasures at Antiques on Main where you’ll find glassware, lamps, linens, large pieces of furniture, and plenty of odds and ends.
Across Water Ave., turn right and visit Cottage Rose Decor where French Country meets shabby chic. From picture frames and wall art to burlap pillows and accessories, this small shop holds serving pieces, vases, coasters and more, including small furnishings.
Back up the street lies Gallatin Furniture where you’ll find upholstered pieces, bombe chests, bedroom suites, occasional tables, and more. Check out the furniture catalogs onsite and the upholstery options available.
Return to your car on the other side of West Main St. and stop in Jewelweed, a quaint boutique housed in an early 1900s former dentist office. The inviting atmosphere speaks of “French Country Chic,” “eclectic,” and “local flavor.” You’ll find repurposed furniture, unique finds from around the world, custom furnishings, Dash & Albert rugs and accessories, Bella Notte bedding and linens, antiques, homemade soy candles, hand painted accent pieces, art, and more. Also available are award-winning design services by Los Angeles based Lizzie McGraw, owner of Tumbleweed and Dandelion in Venice, California.
Proceed to the light and turn left on Water. St. and park a block later in front of Gibson Furniture & Patio. Gibson Furniture has been serving the area since 1972 and offers a 35,000 square foot showroom featuring top furniture manufacturers such as Broyhill, Best, Jamison, and Ashley. Next door, the Gibson Patio Shop offers collections by Agio, Alfresco, Erwin & Sons, OW Lee, Telescope, Winston and Woodard.
Back on East Main, go 4-5 blocks east until you reach Melanie’s Custom Framing and Home Decor on the right.
Melanie’s Custom Framing offers custom framing services, home décor, garden decor, antique furniture, original art, and specialty gifts. Melanie’s Custom Framing is a family-owned and operated business which has been serving Middle Tennessee for over 25 years.
After leaving Melanie’s, turn right on Hartsville Pike and look for Perkins Drug Store on the left. Celebrating more than 115 years of business, Perkins offers a gift shop featuring photo frames, clocks, serving pieces, floral arrangements, and other home decor items.
Return through town on Main St. and turn right when it crosses Broadway, a long block later, turn left on N. Locust Ave. and visit Binkley’s Furniture House. Binkley’s, another family-owned business features fine furniture from a variety of manufacturers including Hooker, Sam Moore, Philip Reinisch Co., Colonial House, King Hickory, Liberty Steinworld, and more.
Return to Broadway and turn left, traveling about 2 miles to the Countryside Antique Mall on the left. Here you’ll find antiques ranging from glassware and furniture to art and linens.
Turn around here and stay on Broadway as it becomes Gallatin Pike/ US 31E and return through Gallatin, past the TN 109 exit and turn right on Belvedere until it dead-ends. Turn left on Long Hollow Pike and it’s a short distance to Long Hollow Pike, just after John Deere Landscapes.
Long Hollow Gardens & Nursery, founded in 1974, offers a family-owned and operated full-service garden center and landscape design team. The facility’s 35 acres offers the best home-grown and hand-picked trees, plants, and garden décor. From planters, pots, and fountains, to plants chosen for use in Middle Tennessee, this garden center offers it all as well as landscape design and installation.
At this point you can back track to a right on Big Station Camp Blvd. which will intersect Vietnam Veterans Blvd., or you can proceed along scenic Long Hollow Pike until you turn left on Center Point Road, which will cross Vietnam Veterans Blvd. near Hendersonville.
